What is the definition of yoga?
Yoga means to yoke, to unite, to be whole; to unite body, mind and spirit.  Simply put, moving your body into postures/poses with breath.  Becoming more aware of the inner workings of your body/mind.

I have not exercised in awhile, what if I’m not flexible enough for a yoga class? Yoga meets you as you are, so anyone can do yoga. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace.  As long as you are breathing consciously and not compromising your body you are doing yoga magnificently.      

Will it help me lose weight; look fit?  
Rather than building muscle, yoga builds muscle tone.  Because it helps maintain a balanced metabolism, it also helps to regulate weight.  Toned muscles improve flexibility and posture and it keeps you feeling youthful, fit and full of vitality.     

How does doing postures make you healthy? It helps you become healthier and happier by circulating life energy (prana) through all your body systems it also feels good.  You’ll get instant gratification!    

How can it help me reduce stress?     
Yoga gives you the tools to transform stress into energy.  Stress is the tension you feel in your back, neck, legs; or the tightness in your chest when you try to breathe deeply. The letting go feeling you experience on the exhale is the release of that stress.     
    
What type of yoga do you teach?    
Kripalu Yoga – which is a modern school of yoga it incorporates various types of yoga into one system the physical purification practices of Hatha; the mental disciplines of Raja; the prana awakening principles of Kundalini and the devotion of Bhakti.  It is often referred to “the yoga of consciousness,” a system that focuses on the inner experience of “meditation in motion” breath, movement and awareness.    
    
What can someone learn by doing yoga?   
Forming a relationship with your body will teach you to move more naturally. Yoga builds self-esteem, confidence, focus and clarity.  You can learn to feel peaceful and comfortable with stillness.    
      
What to wear?     
Loose clothing and bare feet are suggested.     
    
Can I eat before class?     
Practicing yoga on an empty stomach is most comfortable or not eating about two hours before. But if need be, eat something light.    
    
I have - an injury/ had surgery/ have a back problem; can I still practice yoga?
Some postures should not be done with certain conditions or injuries, like uncontrolled blood pressure. Just let us know about your physical limitations.  We will learn to modify postures to fit your body’s capabilities. Depending on your condition, yoga is very helpful for back problems.    
    
If I’m pregnant can I do yoga?      
Yoga classes can help prepare you physically, mentally and spiritually for giving birth.  You can practice yoga safely through your entire pregnancy and right up to the birth of your child.
